Summertime is upon us and children are out of school, graduating and moving on to bigger and better things. This is such an exciting time of the year. I love watching kids be kids, playing in the yard, baseball in the cul de sacs, swimming and biking all around.
We had a fun time with the Petau’s learning how to properly use a fire extinguisher and a couple of other fun facts. No more stop, drop and roll. That explains how old I am. Just run and call 911. Even if you just happen to have a “small” fire in your home, please call 911. The firefighters or more commonly known as “the heroes” will come and do a full assessment of the home and write up a report for the insurance company if needed.
A couple of tips to point out:
Change the batteries in your smoke detectors every time you change the time on your clocks. Every 6 months.
Put a carbon monoxide detector on every floor, law is 15 feet within a legal bedroom
Be sure to not have items within 3 feet of your furnace and water heater
Call 911 when you see the beginning of a fire
Keep your fire extinguisher where you would be running out of the home
Have a family fire escape plan
Have a File of Life on your refrigerator. Call me if you want to know what this is

Stay safe this summer and have fun!!
